Yes, a non k version intel chip is not "unlocked" for overclocking...so therefore you would not realize any gain by trying to overclock it.
Though, if you want to read up on overclocking, might I recommend overclock.net as they have a wealth of information about overclocking in general and tips for specific CPUs.
