Hello i am looking to build a new system simply because its time for it.
My budget is around 800gbp for the system without the screen.
And my purchase will be around this week.
As the title says i want it primarily for the adobe cs6 suite mainly for photo editing and a little video editing but i wouldn't want it to be video editing oriented if it makes a huge difference in price plus some gaming.
So after some research here's my build. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cpu: i5 3570k (i'm considering the i7 for its hyper-threading but would the price increase worth it?)
Gpu: Gigabyte hd7870 2gb
MB: Asrock z77 extreme4
Ram: G.Skill 16GB Ripjaws X Dual Channel cas 9
Psu: Corsair cx600m
Cpu Cooler: 212 hyper evo

SSd: samsung 840 120gb
Hdd: I have one
Case : zalman Z11 plus or the corsair 200R

For the screen which is the extra budget i'm looking at the Asus PA248QJ or the Dell UltraSharp U2410 . So aroung that budget if anyone has any suggestions pls say so. (i already have a calibrator so that wouldn't be a problem if that saves me some extra cash.

i7 is better in photoshop (thats what you do) but its the same in gaming.

For graphics I would choose Nvidia gtx 660 since you can use CUDA cores which are usefull for rendering.

Im guessing that you will OC so mobo, cooler and CPU (k version) are good

For the screen I would go with Asus but they are about the same.

Thank you tadej petric.
Do you have any particular version of the i7 to suggest?
In the gpu department i did read that about the nvidia and its the most complicated department of all. Since both ati and nvidias are good, but i chose the 7870 for the price performance ratio .
The 660 is cheaper but not being a master in gpu i seriously can't decide. The 660 has lower cpu speed and memory bus but it has a faster memory speed and supports the cuda , psysx and 3d. So in the end is it a better choice for rendering and a few games or the 7870 is as good ? Dont forget that i do intent on oc them but not right now if i'm satisfied with the stock speeds thus making them more future proof. On the 660 im looking at this model

Hey,

For photo and video editing I agree with tadej, an i7 would be helpful. Also Nvidia uses CUDA technology which would allow for GPU acceleration in apps like Adobe Premiere or Adobe After effects. Also when comparing graphics cards from two manufactures or two different GPU's the clock speeds are not the most important, its better to look at some real world benchmarks to compare performance. The gtx 660 is a solid card, and I agree that its a better choice if you intend on doing some video editing. As for the card you chose it has a nice aftermarket cooler, just note that nvidia limits their new GPU's to 1.175v so there is still room for overclocking but not as much as on a AMD card.

Hope this helps!

Im thinking about i7 3770K (extreme versions are extremly overpriced)
660 and 7870 are about the same; in some things Nvidia wins and in other 7870 (in bf3 Nvidia wins but in crysis 3 you get a little better results. But were not talking about 20fps (10MAX)). But when it comes to rendering Nvidia wins a lot (beacuse of CUDA cores). But other than CUDA you wont do very much (only 4 games support Advanced PhysX, but you can play game with any GPU (PhysX is just an option for calculating various effects (mostly physics) on graphics card)). And about GPU speeds you can OC your card anyway... Tought you wont need couse you can play most games on Full HD and highest settings with 60+ FPS with 660.
Also that Gigabyte is good, quiet and well cooled; its very good one.
