I seem to keep getting "an error occurred while trying to uninstall it may have already been uninstalled" message when I try to uninstall some programs. Most notably Assassin's creed 3 and AVG although mainly games programs and some others. Im just a bit worried because I cant seem to uninstall programs now.

Was just wondering if anyone had a fix for this?

thanks for your help but does anyone know what the problem actually is and how to fix it instead of just downloading another program which will probably give my system a new problem.

First off, check to see if the programs ARE actually uninstalled. Find their install directories and see if they are still there.

Also, let us know if you're running 32-bit or 64-bit. Checking the uninstall information involves going into the registry, so let me know if the programs are already gone, and what architecture you're running.

Then I can give you instructions on how to go into the registry to check the information. You'll have to be 100% comfortable with editing the registry, otherwise DON'T!

I uninstalled the game using the cd to run an uninstall. I run windows 8 pro 64 bit. I don't want to touch the registry. I just want to understand why my uninstall in the control panel is not working properly. what has caused this message to appear and if there is any way of fixing it so it works properly.
