How to remove writing protection from my kingston pendrive

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. If the issue is only occurring on one computer it could have to do with the security or registry settings of that machine but if it is happening on multiple machines there is more likely an issue with the USB drive. Does formatting fail due to the write protection error as well? You can try using the diskpart command to delete the partition and then format the drive.
Here are some basic instructions:

Insert the drive into the USB enclosure and plug it to the pc.
Click Start
In Search programs and files (Windows 7, Vista) or Run (XP) and type cmd and press enter. In Windows 8, Hit Windows key + X and choose “run” and type cmd.
In the command prompt window type diskpart then press enter.
After "DISKPART>" appears, type 'list disk' then press enter
Determine which disk is the USB drive under Disk ###
Type 'select disk 5' for example if this is the Kingston drive.
Type 'clean' (A window should pop up saying “Diskpart succeeded in cleaning the disk)
Type 'create partition primary' and then enter (you will see a message that Diskpart succeeded in creating the specific partition)
Type 'exit cmd' and then enter (the cmd box will close)

Now, before Windows can successfully detect the drive it must first be prepped/formatted.

1. Right click My Computer (Windows XP, 2000 SP4) or Computer ( Windows 7, Vista) and select Manage. In Windows 8, right click computer in All Apps and select Manage from the pop up menu
2. Click on Disk Management under Storage. If you get a Welcome to new partition wizard window, follow the prompts. If not proceed to step 3.
3. On the right Window pane, look for the SSD. May be labeled Disk followed by a number i.e., Disk 5 and will say Unallocated. Right click on it and select New Partition. Windows 7 and Vista select New Simple Volume.
4. On the Welcome to the New Partition Wizard, click Next
5. Click on Primary Partition and click Next. Windows 7 and Vista will not show this screen, click Next.
6. Select the Default Partition size and click Next
7. Assign it a drive letter or continue with the default choice and click Next
8. Click on Format this partition with the following settings and check Perform a quick format and click Next
Windows 7 and Vista you will see one last screen displaying all the settings that were chosen. Click on Finish. Once complete it should then be seen as a removable drive

If these steps do not work than the drive itself may be faulty but it can be replaced under warranty. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.
