Do I need more power?

Hi,

Just looking for a quick answer to this.

Most of my build here > http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Oa2F

My GPU will either be 7870xt joker edition, or sapphire 7950 Vapor x

Overclocking both the CPU and GPU eventually.

Looking at XFX 550w Core Edition. Will it do?

Thanks,
Gary

More about power
  1. It will work but personally I would go with 650+

Since you are overclocking both the CPU as well as the GPU, I suggest a 650 watts (or higher) PSU of a known good brand like Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, XFX.

Okay, so your saying a 650w would just about cover it? I want room to expand Hard drive space and possible add SSD's into the mix at some point.

A good 650 watt will work. I personally stick with 750 watt psu just because I like to have room to upgrade.

The best brand I have used is seasonic. But I know alot of the corsair and xfx psus are the same thing for a bit less money.

Hard drives take about 12 watts each; SSDs even less.

Look for a name brand PSU 650 watts or higher. Sometimes on sale 750 watts PSUs will be offered at a lower price. Check sales and promos on Newegg and other sites.
