The build you are doing will work just fine. Make sure you put the dual channel ram in the correct slots on the motherboard it'd be like slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4... look at the manual it'll say.
But basically he got some ram that was rated above the speed that his motherboard supported. Or he clearly didn't set it up right.
You should have no problems with your build. If you do then please update the bios and you should be fine.
If you have any problems then I know what it would be and can tell you how to setup the bios properly to fix it...
thanks for your reply ..I have replaced the bios chip in my mobo with the 1604 update my sabertooth990fx board is the r1.01 so thats the latest update ,so i just swapped the chips...
I have a question thats really bothering me i ve found some kingston hyperx ram thats new and 2400mhz for like £43 will the 2400mhz work at that speed even though the mobo says 1800mhz is limit, because i hear people saying they have 2133mhz and on tek syndicate logan was talking about the build he was doing with sabertooth am3+ 8350 bla bla with again i think it was adata or gskill ram at 2133mhz or 2400mhz can you clears this up for me im a complete newbe but i do my home work and i cannot find a clear answer anywhere about this all i ve found is someone saying about his 2133mhz over clock
thanks again
oh in the links you gave yes they are the parts but my mobo isnt r2.0 its 1.01 but has the latest bios chip installed bios 1604... i found the 1600mhz kingsto hy beast on ebay for £53 then i found it on amazon for like £36 and £41 for 1866mhz an 2400mhz for £44.69 so its much cheaper for 2400 if i cant utilise the 2400mhz i ll get the 1866...i know i may have to configure it in bios to get 1866 maybe im not sure
thanks
plz reply
lol sorry for long wait I fell asleep and just got up...was up all night yesterday....
Umm so the ram logan used in his youtube channel doesn't come stock at 2400 speed you half to change the uefi bios setting to the xamp xmp thing?
setting for the ram to run at said speed. And if it only sets it to 2100 or 1866 then you oc it to that speed like he did...
Also with the mobo not being 2.0 means its still a different motherboard even if you have the same or latest bios...
I would recommend you getting a 1866 speed ram that is cabable of oc'ing to 2400 speeds like I did...

that ram will OC to 2400 speed and the xmp setting changes the stock clock to 1866 with no effort at all just one simple click in the uefi bios...also this ram comes at oh what was 1333 speed or 1600 speed when first plugged into your pc so you won't half to worry about exceeding that 1800mhz limit...I'd get something like this ram that can oc to the speed your looking for instead of trying to buy one that comes at that speed...ocing ram is pretty easy these days just google some settings other people used and use that and really that's all it takes...
Also if you could. Could you please tell me how you chose the best answer? xD I have tried and looked for it when I asked a question but never found it...
