Hi i want to buy some kingston hyperx beast to go in my asus sabertooth am3+ motherboard with fx 8350 cpu i was just looking on amazon and found this comment underneath the advert for kingston hyper x beast 8gb dual 2x4gb 1866mhz ram i dont understand what he is saying can anyone clear this up for me please as im about to buy it as it is £41 which is £10 cheaper than anywhere else and its 1866mhz and £10 cheaper than the 1600mhz on ebay here is the comment-------->Nothing really against the RAM, but the AMD FX series of processors only support 1866 RAM in motherboards with only 2 memory slots. If the motherboard has 4 memory slots, the processor will not support it. I found this out the hard way, ended up ordering 1600 RAM for my system. However I am keeping this RAM just in case they update the architecture for the FX processors.

Plz Help !

Okay so I fully understand now...

The build you are doing will work just fine. Make sure you put the dual channel ram in the correct slots on the motherboard it'd be like slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4... look at the manual it'll say.

But basically he got some ram that was rated above the speed that his motherboard supported. Or he clearly didn't set it up right.
You should have no problems with your build. If you do then please update the bios and you should be fine.
If you have any problems then I know what it would...

thanks for your reply ..I have replaced the bios chip in my mobo with the 1604 update my sabertooth990fx board is the r1.01 so thats the latest update ,so i just swapped the chips...
I have a question thats really bothering me i ve found some kingston hyperx ram thats new and 2400mhz for like £43 will the 2400mhz work at that speed even though the mobo says 1800mhz is limit, because i hear people saying they have 2133mhz and on tek syndicate logan was talking about the build he was doing with sabertooth am3+ 8350 bla bla with again i think it was adata or gskill ram at 2133mhz or 2400mhz can you clears this up for me im a complete newbe but i do my home work and i cannot find a clear answer anywhere about this all i ve found is someone saying about his 2133mhz over clock
thanks again
oh in the links you gave yes they are the parts but my mobo isnt r2.0 its 1.01 but has the latest bios chip installed bios 1604... i found the 1600mhz kingsto hy beast on ebay for £53 then i found it on amazon for like £36 and £41 for 1866mhz an 2400mhz for £44.69 so its much cheaper for 2400 if i cant utilise the 2400mhz i ll get the 1866...i know i may have to configure it in bios to get 1866 maybe im not sure
thanks
plz reply :)

lol sorry for long wait I fell asleep and just got up...was up all night yesterday....

Umm so the ram logan used in his youtube channel doesn't come stock at 2400 speed you half to change the uefi bios setting to the xamp xmp thing? :p setting for the ram to run at said speed. And if it only sets it to 2100 or 1866 then you oc it to that speed like he did...
Also with the mobo not being 2.0 means its still a different motherboard even if you have the same or latest bios...
I would recommend you getting a 1866 speed ram that is cabable of oc'ing to 2400 speeds like I did...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220710
that ram will OC to 2400 speed and the xmp setting changes the stock clock to 1866 with no effort at all just one simple click in the uefi bios...also this ram comes at oh what was 1333 speed or 1600 speed when first plugged into your pc so you won't half to worry about exceeding that 1800mhz limit...I'd get something like this ram that can oc to the speed your looking for instead of trying to buy one that comes at that speed...ocing ram is pretty easy these days just google some settings other people used and use that and really that's all it takes...

Also if you could. Could you please tell me how you chose the best answer? xD I have tried and looked for it when I asked a question but never found it...:p

Thanks for clearing that up for me ...i cant afford the patriot ram the reason i want the kingston hyperx beast is because its ok ram and it like 41 pound for 2x4gb 1866mhz,...im trying to choose you answer for the best answer but i cant see the option to choose you anywhere ...im going to buy the kingston hyperx beast as it is overclockable im going to get the 1866mhz one thanks alot.. why is it that when the ram is stated to run at 1866 it doesn't run straight out of the box ,and then other makes do run at 1866mhz out of the box, why does that happen ...so if i buy the kingston hyperxbeast 1866mhz when i plug it in it will only run at 1333mhz until i change some settings in the bios??.."IS THIS CORRECT" Sorry to be a pain in the ass i just dont get it ..
also the asus sabertooth 990fx r1.01 is the same as the r2.0 but there are small difference like the jmicron port is now intel or (something) and the r2.0 has thunderbolt built in and thats it the bios for mine is the latest for the r1.01 enabling it to except the latest fx chips like fx 8350 the reson i got the r1.01 is because its a solid board and i only paid 69 pound for it thats like half price almost...obviusly i would love to have the gen3 r2.0 but i cant afford it...oh i managed to pick up a powercolor hd 7870 myst (tahiti le) graphics card for 120 pound its an open box one but absolutly imaculate never used still in all the packaging i got lucky againi will post some pics once my build is done im going to buy the fractal design r4 case or there is the corsai 300r window case as well that i like which one would you go for the fractal design r4 is only 9 pound more expensive but no side window...
an i understand what you meen by the r1.01 and 2.0 are different boards i know what you meen but generally they are the same in most things but the r2.0 is obviously slighly better ,i just couldn't afford it.

Lol okay well every 3rd party sets the ram to different settings from the stock clock most of the time if your looking for a 1866 speed and higher the stock clock is 1600 speed... But in the uefi bios you change the ram to the xmp setting with a simple click and save on exit and that's all that's needed to get your ram running at the speed of which they claim it can run. Then you can OC it past that if you want but that would mean upping the voltage and what not...

Hope that cleared up the ram confusion you had?

And yes I know they are pretty much the same but was just letting you know that it was a different motherboard than the one I thought it was...
Also I lost you after well I'm not sure where I got lost but just reading that reply...made me really confused. :p
Oh well hope I cleared it up tho and am glad you where able to get such great deals?
