My pc keeps crashing when starting games.

When starting some games e.g dungeon defenders, Gary's mod or killing floor it crashes, please help as it is causing me to kill people. When preforming a burn test the results were way slower than a computer with similar specs.
These are my specs:
i5 3570k
8gb of 1600mhz patriot ram
asus p8z77 v lx
ocz-cxs500w psu

Describe the crash... BSOD? If so what is the error your getting.
What do your event logs say?
What are your temps?
Updated drivers ect?
Is this something that just started happening or has it always been this way?
What GPU do you have, or are you using on-board?
Are you OC'ng.. If so have you attempted to reset to defaults? When you reset to defaults do you get the same issue?

Are you using a discrete graphics card? If you are, what is its brand and model number?

I've updated all the drivers and am using the on board graphics
when it crashes windows stops responding and i have to do a hard shutdown this has only started in the last 1-2 weeks and has got progressively worse.
On the system log there are no records of the crash all it says is the previous shutdown was unexpected at such and such a time but when i check the log at that time there are no error records.

First thing that comes to mind then is the PSU.
Do you have another pc or friend / family that you can test with?
I think it's a newer home use psu without a lot of reviews. ko888 might have more info on it as he commented on another thread about it.

There's only one model in the OCZ CoreXStream Series. It's value-oriented so don't expect it to be great. It's made by HEC/COMPUCASE for OCZ. I don't consider HEC/COMPUCASE to be a good OEM since most of their PSUs are just mediocre.
