When do aftermarket gpu cooler options become reasonable?

I have a new 7870 XT from Power Color, and yes it runs HOT. See: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/tahiti-le-7870-7930-benchmark,3401-6.html

At rest, it is fine ~40-45c but in game 75-80c. The single fan is ok sound wise below 50%...after that mark it is noticeable. If I set the fan to run at 60% the card hovers around 75c.

I have tried to play with the fan profile but in the end the fan needs to run at 60% to keep from getting to 80C or above.

I have a HAF 912 case with 2x 220m fans, 2x 140m fans.

This is a budget card. So putting more money into it kinda of kills it for me but I like the performance. So I am inclined to look into an aftermarket cooler.

Questions:

1. Am I over reacting to the idea of having this card game at ~80C?
2. Given the price of $210.00 U.S for the card itself, what price would be balanced/ reasonable for an aftermath cooler especially if I can OC it ~match a stock gtx 670 performance level? See: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/tahiti-le-7870-7930-benchmark,3401-5.html
3. Suggestions?

Graphics cards do run hot, but they are built to do so.
They will downclock to protect themselves if necessary.
I would not be overly worried.

The design of the cooler sends hot air into the case where it heats everything up.
Perhaps you can look at your case cooling.
Take the sides of the case off, and direct a house fan at the innards. If your temps get significantly better, see if you can't improve your case cooling, or perhaps buy a new case.
