For now I plan on connecting it to a gtx 580 overclocked edition which is apart of a sli configuration . I'm not running 3D yet I am just looking at pushing the hz as far as I can go . So what's best way to connect it . Hdmi 1.4 , Duel-link DVI-D or D-Sub ? Asus VG278HE 27 Inch Black 3D 144hz LCD Monitor VG278HEed. See the picture for connection options .

Either the DVI or HDMI you will get the same quality from either but if you have speakers on your monitor then go HDMI as it will also carry audio where the DVI will not. D-SUB is analog, it will support high resolutions and refresh rates but you will need a DVI adapter for your GPU and TBH its old hat now so avoid it if you can.

I have the VG278HE's little brother, the VG248QE. In order for my monitor to run at 144HZ I had to use the included dual link DVI cable, and change the HZ setting in the Nvidia control panel.

I bought a Cables Unlimited DVI-D 10ft cable and it did not work for my VG278HE monitor; it popped up a message and said it was not compatible with the monitor and my monitor switched to a low res (768). I wonder what cable (brand) works with this monitor?

I am getting 144hz now with the supplied cable from Asus? Is there a sub feature of these DVI cables we are missing? I ask because I am about to order a longer cable, but don't know for sure if I need one from Asus or what?

S0b3 I highly recommend hitting up Google before you buy that cable. I remember reading somewhere that the cable length can affect the quality of the output. The longer it is the less resolution and hz you will get.
