  1. Hi :)

Some cpus just will NOT overclock....

    All the best Brett :)
  2. depends on your motherboard/cpu cooler/ram, a whole lot of variables. what are your system specs?
  3. The core i7s dont overclock well at all unless you have a k model with an unlocked multiplier

there was no i7 920k. k chips came out in the second gen chips. you can OC the first gen chips by adjusting the bclck.

    I stand corrected
  6. Make sure your ram frequency is at or below specification. Did you manually set ram voltage to factory? At such a small overclock, your boot issue sounds ram related. Most 920's are good for 3.6 and more with decent cooling.
  7. i agree with cygnus. sounds like you need to bring the ram frequency down a bit

by the way what is your memory?

the i7-920 by default will recognize DDR3-800/1066

  8. Sounds like a voltage problem to me. Just for "teh lolz" I got my 870 to 4.0 on 1.43mv for 30 minutes. 3.0 sounds really low.
