You linked the 8970 OEM, which is in reality just the 7970 GHZ Edition.

OP .... next year probably, they are riding the 7000 series through the end of the year.

Like others have said. Everything I've heard and read points to AMD sticking with 7xxx until at least Q4 of 2013. Most likely it will be 2014 until the 8xxx releases. I'm guessing the black Friday sales this year for AMD GPUs are going to be very good.

Honestly don't know. They had stats out as to how much better than 7xxx the 8xxx series would be, but since they seemed to have pushed it back so far, there's no telling just what the next generation will bring.

I didn't wait.
