Hello everyone,

I am getting a desktop tower for a friend who will be using it primarily to play poker and run a few programs simultaneously. Little to no gaming.

The two PCs are:

1. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/asus-asus-cm1435-ca002s-desktop-computer-amd-a8-5500-1tb-hdd-4gb-ram-windows-8-cm1435-ca002s/10238822.aspx?path=9a31f666ef2bac6601f13ce803d32d7cen02&SearchPageIndex=1

2. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/hewlett-packard-hp-pavilion-p6-2429-desktop-computer-amd-a6-5400k-1tb-6gb-ram-windows-8-p6-2429/10238331.aspx?path=0e994dcd208d0b2a57c130ad961d7b72en02&SearchPageIndex=1

To me I think maybe the first one since it has quad core opposed to dual. But am sure. If anyone could compare and contrast these two PCs I would be GREATLY appreciative. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

So overall you feel the first PC is the better option?

Yes. It has the newer amd processor in it. The other one has a few cool features, like more RAM and Wirless adapter. But this is all fairly cheep stuff to add in whenever. In reality though, if all he is doing is playing poker and running basic programs either computer will handle the tasks.

Okay I was just debating what would be better the more ram and 3.6ghz cpu (HP) or the quad core (asus) and I guess the graphics on both are the same? That confused me because the HP listed a gfx card where as the Asus didnt.

Yes i did notice that the asus didnt list the graphics, but both processors are amd's APU, they are processors with integrated graphics. As you can see if you look up just the processor that is in the Asus. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113288 under details it clearly says Integrated Graphics AMD Radeon HD 7560D. Keep in mind these are not discrete graphics. They are integrated graphics. But they are some of the best integrated graphics on the market. And can be compared to a discrete card. Such as the HD Radeon 6670. In fact with these apu's if you choose to add a discrete 6670 to your system, the apu's integrated graphics can crossfire with the 6670.

Furthermore, what about this PC: http://fredericton.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computers-BRAND-NEW-Solid-Gaming-Computer-W0QQAdIdZ469928041. It will be roughly $550 (compared to the other two which are both $450).

The price is somewhat negated though considering he wants a Pro/Ultimate version of W7 or W8. This pc comes with Ultimate whereas he would have to pay for a separate upgrade on the other PC.

Okay Thanks! So I think I am going to go with the first option. Then upgrade the ram if it is possible. Does that sound okay?
