Should i get the 3770k or the 3570k for gaming? Im planning to upgrade my case to a fractal design R4 and i want to get either the i7 or the i5. I also need a motherboard and i'm planning on getting the processor from microcenter so does anyone know a good deal for the motherboard and processor at microcenter? the i7 is $230 and the i5 is $190.

Motherboard - Gigabyte Z77X-D3H

Ever since Intel’s introduction of the Z77 chipset, motherboard giant Gigabyte has made huge leaps in in improvements on their motherboards all the way from the budget end to the extreme high end and the Z77X-D3H is a perfect example of what kind of top quality products can be achieved.

With support for PCIe 3.0, SATA 3 6Gb/s, 8 channel integrated audio, Gigabyte’s fully digital power delivery system, and ultra durable 4 features, it’s got a lot going for it.

Why not the i7 3770K you may ask? Well the i7 3770K merely adds Hyper-Threading and a higher clock speed to the equation. Though these two improvements are fantastic in CPU intensive tasks such as video encoding and 3D modeling, in gaming scenarios it doesn’t really do a whole lot. Games these days are much more graphics intensive than CPU intensive, so it’s a much better idea to invest the extra dough into the graphics card.

That said, if your looking to do live streaming or other tasks which require any sort of video encoding, feel free to pick up an Intel Core i7 3770K instead.

Thanks for the answer! I also need a good cpu cooler for $50 and under that'll fit in the fractal r4 case. Also will the motherboard be good for overclocking? I'll eventually overclock.

Yes it's good for overclocking as well.Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

$25 cooler that will work magic. Seriously though, at this price, there’s no cooler out there can that beat this thing. If you want to overclock past 4.3ghz though you will need something better like NH-D14.
