Hey Guys,

Okay so i'm not watercooling my case per se...you get the point..the COMPONENTS inside my case.

Just built my computer about a month back and my temps are NOT good for air cooling, especially the GPUs (Two Gigabyte 670's). So I think its time to move to liquid cooling. With that said I've read all about what goes into a system but I want to have other opinions about it before I do anything.

So with that said...help me setup a watercooling loop.

My goals:

  • ■ Money isn't really a factor, I can spend however much I need to / want
    ■ Want it to be asthetically pleasing
    ■ Color? No idea, I wanted to do an ROG type theme but now i'm not sure...BLUE?
    ■ Modification is possible but nothing crazy. Possibly mod the top to fit a quad rad there and the bottom for another rad. (sketchup's below)

*doing the sketchup right now*

Well if I where building this I would have two loops one for the CPU and the other for the video cards. The CPU loop would have a small reservoir and a monstra 240 radiator in the bottom of the case with a 655 or D5 pump. The video loop would have a little larger reservoir with a monstra 360 radiator in the top of the case with a 655 or D5 pump but that is me here have a look at my build log.

I was thinking about the XSPC RX480 Radiator for the top and a XSPC RX240 Radiator for the bottom. Do you guys think the RX480 is over kill? It would require a significant amount of modding to make it fit...

When it comes to radiator space, theres no such thing as overkill. The more rad you have, the slower you can run your fans and have a quieter rig.
This is coming from someone with dual 360mm rads just for a (not even that overclocked) 3570k. I do intend to eventually add a GPU in there :D.

From what I'm seeing, to fit a Quad rad in the 800D, all you would have to do is drill some holes, mesh and sacrifice the top 5.25" bay.
Scroll down a bit.

Do the TDP calculations to see if an RX480+RX240 will handle the heat of your components at a decent RPM (~1000RPM is dead silent for any good fan). At a guess, I think it will, but you will have to invest in some good fans (Talking Gentle Typhoons and Noctua NF-12's here, $20 each fans).

So it looks like i'll only need to mark up and widen the top section to moung the rad. Does anyone know someone that has done this and has a detailed build log?

Using my URL magic, I got to the original images Photobucket gallery. Thats kind of scary come to think of it...

Trawl through that and you might find something about how the mod was done, though a fair bit of the gallery seems to be family photo's or other builds (which makes it even scarier that I could find it). The image linked in the thread I found is on page 3.

Otherwise, just type into google images "800D Quad Rad". Often the best way for looking up build logs and such.
I found this first try.
