I just finished building my new mini-itx pc tonight, and everything works great except for one problem: my RAM isn't working. When I put RAM in the slot the farthest away from the CPU, the machine won't post. Everything powers up, but I can't get any video. As soon a I take the RAM out of the slot, everything seems to work fine. I was able to update the bios on the machine to the most current version on Asus's website, but it didn't change anything. I've tried both dimms in both slots, and no matter which ones I use I can't get the machine to post if there is a dimm in the far slot. I don't think the ram is bad; could it possibly be the dimm slot on the motherboard?

I have a ASUS P8 H77-I Mini-ITX motherboard
Kingston KHX1600C10D3B1K2 16 gb ram kit( 2x8 gb)
Intel Core I5-3470 CPU

Yes I've tried each RAM stick in each slot, and both RAM sticks work in the slot nearest the CPU, while neather one work in the slot farthest away.

I'm assuming this would be considered a no post; the power supply comes on, all the fans spin, the Bluray drive has power, and all lights are green, but I get no video. I've tried both HDMI and DVI on the video card and the motherboard after the video card is removed.

Can you provide complete system spec?

I suspect your CPU is not running due to overheat. All lights & fans are running doesn't mean that your CPU is also working. In many cases CPU overheat is the prime issue.

Confirm if your HDD is running or not.

If the modules work in the other slots, then check the CPU socket for any bent pins and remount the cooler again (check if board is warping also). Lastly check the non workin DIMM slot for any foreign material, in case there is poor contact against one of the DRAM module pads.
