I recently purchased a Sapphire HD 7870, i use the sapphire trixx windows widget to monitor the temps etc. But today when i started my pc the voltage which usually stays at 0.85 suddenly went up and its not even constant its varying from 1.1 - 1.3. The temps were constantly rising too i got scared and turned my pc off once it hit 70c at idle. What might be the problem ? At first i thought that its the voltage that my house recieves it might have changed. There was a power outage the whole day yesterday where i live probably something related to that. But then again isnt the psu supposed to stabilize the voltages ? I have a corsair
gs 600 PSU. sorry for the typos im on my phone.

Can unstable or hifh voltage at the power outlet cause this ?

No its not high voltage in you area
The Corsair GS600 got overvoltage protection which would have kicked in if that was the issue.

The HD 7870 adjust dynamically its clock and voltage
Some time background applications such as Bitcon maleware or Flash uses GPU so even though your not gaming GPU clocks and volts can rise. I would worry only if it never gets down and temp goes over 80c.

Edit: For artifacts, flickering try Reduce any overclock you got, uninstall driver then reinstall latest drivers. Reinstall the card check power connectors and monitor connectors again. If the problem is still there it could be a Graphics card / Motherboard Hardware issue. Try the card in different PC if it works then its the mobo if it doesn't or same issue then its your GFX card. RMA.

Thanks

Read this, it could be the same a driver issue:

Removed Trixx, that seemed to solve the problem. Ran Furmark just to be sure and it was fine, temps around 70 after a few mins. But, the problem is, the activity does not go down once i close Furmark, it still stays at max :/
