So since I got my i5 3570k and gtx 660 2gb (it's running games like a charm). My brother wanted a similar PC. Although he stumbled upon for what he thought was the better option, the fx 6300 and the hd 7950 3gb.

So what do you guys think? Do you think the fx 6300 and hd 7950 3gb is the better option or the latter? Thanks for the any feedback it's greatly appreciated.

Also, I don't think I will be overclocking the fx 6300, unless there's a safe way to overclock it with a program such as turbo boost that intel includes with their i5 3570k

Turbo Boost isn't overclocking as such, it's just an inbuilt feature. All modern i5/i7s (even the non K ones) support turbo boost. It's the unlocked multiplier that's special.

I'd say you're likely better off with the stronger GPU and lower end CPU (the 7950 and FX 6300 combo) than the other way around, as the vast majority of games put much more emphasis on the GPU.

If you're not going to be overclocking though why not get like a 3350P or a 3470 and a H77/B75 motherboard though, rather than a 3570K? If you don't overclock the 3570K, it's just a waste of money really. That will be much closer in price to the FX 6300 while still performing the same as a 3570K at stock. Paired with a 7950 this would be much, much better than either of the options suggested, for a similar price. A 7870 XT is also only a couple of percent (maybe 2% in some cases) slower than a 7950, and often costs significantly less.

Hmmm, I might just get a hyper 212 evo and overclock the fx 6300 or i5 3570k instead? I can overclock, just afraid of destroying it, anyway I'm just gonna go on a load of guides a overclock and I should be fine I guess. I've heard the 6300 overclocks better but the 3570k is just behind it so it shouldn't be a problem. So now I'm thinking what would be a better option. I would be guessing the 6300 and 7950? Although I'm going to get my bro a single 1080p monitor, so 3gb seems like overkill so either the 660ti or 7870?
