ey guys, how do you see this configuration for a new build?

-SSD Crucial M4 128
Windows on one partition + archives on another partition (a lot of small archives for daily work)

-WD Caviar Black 500GB Sata 3
For games, without any partition (500 GB ssd are very expensive)

-Seagate Barracuda 7200.1 2TB Sata 3 64MB
For downloads and storage.

Thanks.

well, as an emergency solution (for example if I have to finish a work NOW and can't wait), but for example:

-The system is slow... well... I'm gonna format and reinstall.
-Oh, I have a virus... well... I don't wanna "fight" with this... I'm gonna format and reinstall.

In that case I prefer format all and reinstall from zero. It seems more clean, than restore an image (Its good for an emergency but not for this).

well, its not about security or performance (there's no performance difference with or without partitions), its all about "comfort". If something goes wrong (windows.... you know...) I don't have to worry about my important data being erased or something like that..... I can't even boot windows and I can't then (or don't know how to do it) recover my data? no matter, just reinstall windows and my important data its safe on his/her partition.

I know there are other forms to recover data when "windows can't even boot", but partitions its easy for me :). And 128 GB its more than enough for windows + work files (Actually 53.437 archives + 2.231 directories and less than 1GB)

well, and I think I'll just buy a new 128 SSD and I'll keep my barracuda 7200.11 for games and downloads (just use defraggler when neccesary and ok). I don't matter fast game loading, but yes fast OS and programs response :)

Hmm... Don't think that is a good idea, re-install is very time consuming. particular with all the tweaks and set up...

If it slows - clean up the system and remove all the back-ground programs
Install MS Security Essential, then you don't have to worry about virus and adware...
