Hello everyone.
I am having an issue that i REALLY dont know much about.
I has to do with my GTX 560TI from Asus.
The past 2 months the graphics card has started picking up idle temperatures. It is now idling at 54'C while it used to be 35-38.
I have made sure that the fans are working properly, i have used an air blower to de-dust the pipes and taken my measures with 3 different programs.

Since the graphics card has been in use for the past 2 years, i am now seriously thinking of disassembling the cooling system and re applying past to the heat sink plate. And before i do so, i want your opinion.

Thank you for your time.

The thread you posted reminded me of the black screens i used to get. Which places it right to the category of "plausable".
I have made the change to adaptive, but so far the temp hasnt dropped, it might be because i have to restart my computer or something like that.

I will post more right after i get more information.

However i am still very interested in the "repaste" method.

won't hurt to try, as long as it's done right

What the hell did i just do with the quoting mechanic? :p heheheheh
It'll be the first time applying paste to a GPU. Anything you would like to point out is welcome. Or do i follow the same rules for quantity and methode as in a CPU?

pretty much same method as the cpu. Of course avoid air pockets
and when you remove the old compound, lint free cotton swabs and if you can find some 99% isopropyl alcohol and for best paste....http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/307418-28-best-thermal-compound

Aright, so i have an update to the issues of a GPU being overheated.
I had asked if fresh thermal paste would help. IT DID!!!
It has been 3 days since i dismantled the cooler for my Asus GTX560TI, cleaned out the older paste that looked and felt like a rock and then applied newer paste.
Before i did that, my GPU had reached idle temps of up to 51-55'C and in BF3 it hit 91'C.
After the paste had been applied and 3 days later i idle at 30-32'C and play at 65-67'C.

So... it works, its an awesom solution

Only thing i need to ask for now, is that if i should and could do the same for the ram of the GPU. But do i apply paste or glue?

i prefer a thermal adhesive. it's slightly stickier than regular thermal paste. never glue.
