Hey Everyone,

I am picking up a PC for a friend:

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/asus-asus-cm1435-ca002s-desktop-computer-amd-a8-5500-1tb-hdd-4gb-ram-windows-8-cm1435-ca002s/10238822.aspx?path=9a31f666ef2bac6601f13ce803d32d7cen02&SearchPageIndex=1

I have an extra 4gb stick here and was wondering if I could put it into that PC.
I think this is the ram stick: http://www.corsair.com/en/memory-by-product-family/xms-classic/cmx4gx3m1a1333c9.html

Also, is it a big deal to mix and match ram? Like to have 2x 2gb and 1x 4gb to make up 8gb? Or to have different brands or 1600mhz and 1833 and so on.

Thanks for any and all help!

It is really hard to say looking at the specifications. It does not give any motherboard details. So it might only have two memory spaces being occupied by 2x2gigs of RAM already. And I also cant find a place where it tells you if the windows 8 version is 32bit, or 64 bit. If it is a 32 bit version of windows 8 the max amount of RAM it can support is 4gigs. If you do order it the best thing to do would be to wait until it comes in.

Don't mix the ram unless it is the same speed/latency. Your 4GB stick is 1333Mhz and his ram is 1600Mhz. The thing is that he probably has 2 x2Gb sticks and there is no room for your stick on the motherboard...if there is room you will ruin the dual channel memory by adding 3rd stick...plus the whole thing will run on 1333 not 1600.
My advise is leave the system alone. Faster 4Gb ram is better than slower and bigger one...(to a certain point of course)
