Speedfan causes my system to hang up every few seconds

Hi, I have an XPS 13 UB and the damn thing is about to blister my legs it gets so hot.

I figured I could just change the fan settings easy peasy. Nope. Seems the only real option out there is speedfan.

When Speedfan is running, my mouse hangs up every few seconds. Well, the whole computer freezes up every few seconds in reality. If a video is playing, it jams up, etc...

Any other utilities out there? Any other way to control when the fan kicks on? I just want to lower the average running temp so I can actually use my laptop on my lap without having to tote a freaking cooling pad around; if I am going to do that, then why even have a small UB?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the response. I looked in the Bios and there was no options for the fan. I looked at the suggested Aida64. Looks like a great product, but it is not free. I have some kind of mental disease that wont let me pay for software. It's a sickness, I know.

First place I looked was the bios. Blows my mind that there isn't an option in there. Had to be something Dell purposefully did. Not sure why.

But again, thanks for the help.
