New build, is it good enough?

Yes, I do realize that by asking if it's good enough is subjective thus not clear enough.

Without further ado, I present to you, my build: pcpartpicker.com/p/Nvik

Let me start off by saying that I'll be using it for Hi-End gaming playing on a 1920x1080 monitor and the bugdet is set at 1400$. I'm also using Adobe Programs (Like Photoshop and After Effects). Even though nVidia's cards have CUDA cores which are better for rendering, I won't be doing dynamic visual editing to an extend that the Radeon I've chosen will not be able to handle (so I believe.) Make any suggestions and recommendations freely.

Thanks.

Yeah uh, actually I don't think I'll be crossfiring any time soon. And if I decide to, my PSU will probably need to be upgraded as well because it's going to be outdated.

I think i'd prefer staying on the AMD side because of the cores basically. You see, benchmarks have shown that games are starting to use more cores efficiently. That's mainly it. Thanks for the build though.

Only really graphically intense games like Crysis and Battlefield 3 make serious use of more than two cores. Everything else really only uses two. There's very few games (if any) right now that eat the resources that Crysis does. The Intel chips do have fewer cores, but they're used more effectively than the Bulldozer / Piledriver CPUs do.

What about video/image editing? I'll be using all of the cores won't I? Therefore what is worth it, an Intel or an AMD?

Depending on who you ask, AMD processors supposedly make better use of the extra threads than their Intel equivalents, but I've never found anything that backs up that claim. The extra threads of the i7-3770 and i7-3770K are where you come out ahead video editing. The FX-8350 has extra threads where the FX-8320 doesn't.

PSU's only get out-dated in about 5years. If you plan to crossfire in 5years, you're doing it wrong.
But if you do feel like you'll be changing psus before crossfire, then downgrade to a 600-650w psu.

Yes the i7-3770k is suppose to do video-editing better than the 8350, but keep in mind that there's a huge $100 difference between the two. AMD is perfect for your needs.

Yeah well, if I had 300 extra dollars I would definitely go for Intel, but should I overclock and go for a 750W PSU instead?

That's why I said the opinions vary. Some people claim that the 8 cores of the FX will help better, others say that the i7 with the extra threads edit video better. It's pretty much a circular firing squad between Intel fanboys and AMD fanboys. I'm more of an Intel fan but I tend to side with whatever is fastest and provides the best long run bang for buck option.
