As usual, I look to the good people of TH! I have a strange issue with my DVD drive.

I recently built a new PC and it works beautifully. My only issue is the DVD drive. My computer recognizes the drive with no problem, and I can rip DVDs, play DVDs, and recover DVDs.

When I burn a DVD, the burn hangs about 5% in and it won't go any further. When I cancel the burn, it won't cancel. After I use ctrl-alt-del to close the program and eject the disk, my computer won't do anything. I can't start any programs nor can I restart or shut down the computer. I'm forced to use the power button on the tower.

I am using a Lite-On IHAS124-04

I have Windows XP. My drivers are all updated with no issues. I checked the plugs and they're fine. I've tried two different types of DVDs (Spin-X and Princo) and both disks hung during the burn.

The programs I use for my burning and recovery are DVD Decrypter (for burning ISO), Ashampoo (for data and music) and ISO Buster (for disk recovery.) However, all three programs work fine with my external burner.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for all your help!
