Today I built my first build but when I went to turn my machine on it didn't turn on! The CPU fan started to turn but didn't make a full rotation and my system just turned it self off. I have try only having the essentials on ect. ect. Any thoughts on what it might be. Could it just be a faulty motherboard.

CPU : i5 3570k
CPU Cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard : Gigabyte z77x ud3h
PSU : EVGA 650 SuperNova NEX650
Ram : Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 LP Vengeance 8GB

All replies would be appreciated.

Yes, you are right about installing the essentials (cpu, mobo, psu, and 1 ram stick). You don't even need the heatsink installed at this point, as it is not a system boot requirement (usually, it will simply shut down after about 10 seconds as cpu heats up). Disconnect and reconnect everything again, piece by piece, making sure system power connectors are plugged in properly, ram stick seated. Instead of case power on/off connector, turn it on manually using a flat screwdriver to touch these 2 pins on the mobo for about 3 sec (hold it), and the PC will turn on.
