I have a inspiron 15r and was wondering if i could upgrade it somehow to be able to play the newest games like crysis 3 or something
here are some specs
i7 intel core processor
8 gb ram
intel 4000 graphics card
1tb hard drive space
windows 8
dont know what else to put but i when i play games like batman akc or sleeping dogs the laptop starts blowing out hot air anyone have any ideas to help cool it down?
would an external graphics card work from what i understand the processor is high end and i have enough ram

Generally the mobile version of any generation of hardware is several generations behind Desktops as far as performance. I don't think the HD 4000 integrated graphics solution is going to play Crysis very well. You could try external graphics. I would research external graphics solutions for gaming by doing a simple Google search.

The CPU, even if it's i7, doesn't make it fast. Some i7 CPUs are slower than i5 CPUs. What model i7 do you have?

don't expect any big improvement, but you could update your intel 4000 drivers (new ones out today that apparently tout 10% performance increase), and maybe upgrade to a SSD (but that would only load games faster, not improve framerates or anything).
your laptop is blowing hot air when you play games because you are taxing the hell out if the poor intel 4000, which is by no means a gaming GPU. the only way to cool it down is to not game on it.
external GPU's are few and far between - and not worth it, besides they're typically meant for adding monitors and not graphics performance.

sorry, not much you can do. if you wanted to game on a laptop you should have bought a gaming laptop.

Yeah, that's not "high end" by any means, as you originally stated. You have the wrong laptop for gaming.
