Some SATA drives actually do user jumpers to set the drive to a slower speed(SATA 150 down from 300 megabit/sec) for older system(and some other features).
Chances are you will not need them, but sometimes you run into it. This is not like the Master/Slave/Cable Select from the IDE days.

not gonna argue that to much.
My old AMD board has a bad time with the faster drives and not so much the size.
It was more a FYI post about why you may still see jumper blocks on the drives.
