Can the EliteBook Folio 9470m support a mSATA and 2.5 SATA drive at the same time?

I've scoured ye olde internets and asked HP but still don't have an answer "yes" or "no"....

The service manual shows they are two distinctly different connectors. I'm hoping to be able to dual boot from one or the other with bios boot selection.

HP seems inconsistent with their specs too...

Display resolutions are different between website and PDF (on the same page).
Number of memory slots are different between website and PDF (on the same page).

(lower res but more memory slots)

(higher res but single memory slot)

In a round about way, I think I found the answer by examining the HP/Intel documentation on "Flash Cache". I completely forgot about the old Intel RST. It appears each device can be treated as their own hard drive as long as the Intel RST (rapid storage technology) configuration is not set to use the mSATA drive as a flash cache array configuration for the other 2.5 SATA drive.

A somewhat related article detailed the bios screens for Intel RST on this particular model:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/mdt/thread/0ace1a05-48b0-4608-9553-3c820285cc06/

If I get the computer I will confirm it is working as I hope. While I'm at it, I'll also confirm the correct resolution and the number of memory slots. HP should give me the laptop for the free technical documentation work. :)

HP had better specs per model here:
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=5271146

I can confirm the specs on the D3K33UT. Does have 1600x900 rez and it is using a Micron mSATA hard drive (model: mtfddat256mam-1k2). As of today I couldn't find the micron spec page for it but they appear to have one for an old version (ending "1k1") here: http://www.micron.com/parts/solid-state-storage/ssd/mtfddat256mam-1k1 .

I will hopefully have another drive here shortly to test with. Looked like the manual shows their drive with a 90 degree adapter so I'll have to track one of those down, as well.

EDIT:

Got everything. The 90 degree adapter for the sata drive was a real pain to find. HP does not make it easy...

if you've never been to the hp parts site, you have to set set some cookies first:
http://h20141.www2.hp.com/Hpparts/CountryChoice.aspx?mscssid=&valid=False

now, you can look at the parts page:
http://h20141.www2.hp.com/Hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?SearchIn=PartNumber&SearchPN=702870-001

If you want to verify it, hunt it down by looking up older versions of the Folio 9470m that used a SATA drive (7mm height) and then put that model into the main parts page to find all the parts. I used this one (C9J10UT) as it had both mSATA (used as flash cache) and a SATA drive. I figured this would provide the most relevant parts list.
http://h20141.www2.hp.com/Hpparts/SearchProduct.aspx?SearchCriteria=C9J10UT

The end result is hopefully worth the work. A true ultrabook with two SSD drives. One, mSATA, one SATA, and 16GB of fast RAM.

Grifonik,

As I read your post I see that you needed a 90 degree adapter to mount an additional hard drive. Could you tell me if such an adapter is needed for mounting mSATA card flash drive or for a regular SATA ssd drive?

I have such an EliteBook with a regular SATA drive and I would like to install an additional mSATA card. Thus, I need to work if I should have something more than just a mSATA drive :)

Thanks!

Regards,
Tom
