I was trying to build a computer that would last me awhile and that I could update over time. I think its a good build So far I have built this computer:

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/joshx007x/saved/1qzI

I just wanted to know if there was a cheapter alternative to any of the parts I chose or if there was any improvements I could make. I want to keep the cost of the build as low as possible, but I want to have the i5.

I really want to use this computer for gaming and I want to upgrade in the future so I chose the i5 so I wouldnt have to upgrade the processor for awhile and theres a deal for the i5 and the mobo I chose. If there are deals or combos that will make my build cheaper, better, or slightly worse but still cheaper, please let me know :)

Thanks for any info you can give me!

Oops, there was a power supply for free but it turned out the deal expired so it was $160 so I deleted it. Is there a recommended PSU that you have? I was thinking about the Antec BP350 or Antec VP-450. I would like to keep the cost to a minimum. I dont really know which psu to get because I dont know how much wattage I need. I used that extreme website thing and it said I needed like 305 watts. I got the mobo for free because it was one of the combo deals for the i5 2500k. Get a i5 2500k then that mobo is free.

You should get at least a 400W for the 650ti and more if you intend to change that without changing the power supply. Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, and XFX are the best ones.

The 2500K is a few years old. the i5 3570K is current. If you are buying a K processor (denotes you can overclock) then you should get a Z77 motherboard. Remember alot of those combo deals are made to get rid of overstock not necessarily the best components for your build.

Hey, neither of the PSUs you suggested would work. First, the BP doesn't have a PCIe cable, meaning you wouldn't be able to use your video card, second, the VP seems to be a discontinued part.

I agree with StickManSam (Who I have seen before, hello again you intelligent person) about the PSU.
The other option is something like this . It's $65 plus shipping ($3) but it has 1 6pin and 1 6+2pin. Because you want to upgrade in the future, that would be helpful. If you know you will upgrade to some not yet released (so more power efficient, with more capability) product, the 430W Corsair is the way to go.

If a psu is modular does that mean it comes with the cables I need or do I have to have my own?

Is the motherboard good? I just tried to choose the best deal on a z77 because I wanted to overclock. Or should I get an amd fx 6200 and overclock it, since its cheaper?

Why did you change processor and motherboard? Is it because of what JNKweaver said?
Is the 2500k older? Yes.
Does it use more power than the 3570k? Yes.
Does the 2500k perform much worse than the 2570k? No.

It's not worth blowing your budget for a part you don't really need. I recommend staying within your budget, and keeping the original build. StickManSam agrees with me, on the grounds that he (Sorry stickman if you are a girl) posted a build with the 2500k.

The 2500k is only about 7% slower clock for clock which is pretty negligible
There is no need to waste money getting a more expensive CPU+mb combo just for that minimal performance esp if you're getting the mb for free. Yar I agree with Robert

The 2500k is better overclocker, clocks higher on similar cooling

I'm a dude :p

I switched the video card for one like $10 more expensive but it has 1.03 ghz instead of like 938. This is what I think I plan on getting but I also need a wifi card and a monitor.do you have any suggestions?
