i know nothing about custom loops, well maybe a little (not much at all) i do know slightly about closed loops but i was wondering if anybody can explain "custom watercooling for dummies" maybe within the next 5 years or so i may be looking for these custom watercooling loops. as of today are there any cheaper kits for this that i could all fit in my case (which is a fractal design r4) the case has two 140 mm fan slots at the top, but the room between those slots and the motherboard isnt all that much, so i was wondering also if there are any options that have thin radiators, but also are 140mm x2. just something i may think about if and when the cash flow starts coming in XD. I definately wouldnt need custom watercooling at the moment considering i ahve a i5-3570k running at 4.4 ghz happily on air with a hyper 212 evo. but i enjoy learning about these things, and it may be a greater possibliity that i will use a custon watercooling loop later on

There are a lot of stickies at the top of this forum page that you can read through that have to do with water cooling. It sounds like you have plenty of time to read up on the subject. In trying to fit a water cooling system inside the case you need a case that is specificly designed for that and not all cases can do that. A full tower case would be better and if using a mid tower then mounting outside the case will be an option. You can use thin radiators but the thinner the radiator the less cooling performance you'll get.
For now I would read as much as you can and look at parts and see what other people are saying about their systems to get a feel for it before you jump in. Also going with one of those closed loop coolers will be a start and get you a feel for what it can do.

thanks, and i would also like to point out that my case sports those "somewhat" rare 140mm fan slots so logically i could go foir a thinner, but a radiator with more surface area. and sadly my case does not have grommets for custom watercooling, so i guess it woudlnt be the best case for custom watercooling, but i do have plenty room in the case with the main hard drive cage removed, but i fear that i would not be able to mount it. as you said, i will try to read as much as i can when i get the chance.

Getting the right case certianly helps when trying to fit a water cooling system inside the case. I have been water cooling for a long time and I actually prefer putting the radiators outside not connected to the case. I have a large desk that has several places that I put radiators and just ran the tubing to them.
Water cooling can also get pretty expensive so keep that in mind.
