I plan on spending $928 AUD on this setup:
i7 3770
8gb ddr3 ram @ 1600mhz
1 TB sata-3 7200rpm HDD
550W PSU
Nvidia geforce gtx 650 ti boost
Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
H77 motherboard
(Plus other things that don't matter)

get the i5 3570K (no difference in gaming, really) and get with that extra 100 a 670.

now, while I just suggest a 670, that's because you started off with an Nvidia card. I personally think AMD GPUs are better, and the benchmarks done by this site generally agree (and they're cheaper) you could get a 7950, which overclocks well and can easily outstrip a 670.

what's the site you're ordering from, and I'll put a build together.

intended use? it's fine if you're involved with some form of media production (image & video editing) or CPU intensive tasks (rendering & VMs), but if this is for a more casual use like gaming at most, then you should be able to re-allocate that spending more wisely getting an i5 instead, and getting a better GPU, as nice as the 650ti Boost is. assuming that $928 is the cost for the parts you listed down;

I am actually intending to purchase a new pre-built mach off of Ebay, and then buy a graphics card later. $728 has been allocated for this desktop: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130693323987?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

^ ($28 for wireless connection compatibility and $105 for Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit... otherwise it just costs $595)

$200 has been allocated for a graphics card but $50 can be shaved off of that when I get a good deal for one.

first; sorry about that OS. i thought that was W7 Home Premium.

nice deal. i can overlook the cheap case but the fact that they're not specifically listing out the PSU brand & model kinda warrants my suspicion.
