GPU is self-overclocking?

Hey, I bought a 670 4gb FTW card a month ago, and it is rated at 1084MHz boost clock speed. It boosted to 1110 always for some reason, now its boosting to 1124. I haven't applied any overclock to this card, so this is sort of weird.
It still has the same core clock, 1006.

My question is, is this normal? Did a driver update optimize the card or something?

Could be an issue with the card's bios, have you checked their website for an updated version that would fix the issue?

I'm downloading a new driver right now that just came out a week ago, lets see if it changes anything.

aren't that a nvi feature of 6xx card... it will boost clock auto adjusted with thermal as the limit

I'm forgot what it called, but i think it's normal...

I was just told by an EVGA forum member that it is indeed normal, you are right rdc85. Thanks I was just worried it was defective for a second!

I have seen the same thing on my SLI Gigabyte GTX 670's and found the same answer. It is the first Nvidia cards I have used for many years and unsure on how Nvidia cards work now.

A card that goes past the listed boast clock? That a bit dangerous to have as stock, no? Seeing as they arn't factory tested at an un-predetermined limit.
