For some reason the last time I looked which was a few days ago, I had around.. 400-500 gigs of space taken up, out of 1.80 TB, but tonight all of a sudden I got a message saying I was low on space and suddenly noticed that it was showing 1.80/1.80 taken up, I have run cc cleaner, run anti virus checks, anti malware, opened up system restore and it is only showing 1 restore point, and I have only had my computer for about 4 months, does anyone know what could be up?

How large is that restore image?

You may have windows setup to backup EVERYTHING on the PC which will take up an incredible amount of storage space.

You should probably invest in another HDD for backups so that you have more room for programs.

Treesize Free - great little (free) app for finding space-hogging folders. It shows you your folder tree with the total size (with a visual too) by each folder. You can quickly jump into subfolders based on which is bigger and find whatever/wherever the culprit is.

get treesize or any similar application, that should make it easier to see where the spaces went. which folder, and should give you an idea what it is about. depending on what you see, then do something about it. for now, that is all i can think of

I don't really know how to check that, I went in and it shows 10g alotted to system restore from what I could see though and I have NEVER had this issue before.. it's very very odd, I uninstalled a few things just to see if it would free up space and then restarted, and it showed I had 25G when it restarted and now its back down to 0

Update: It is a bug with tracing with windows 8 and the antivirus Kaspersky, in order to fix just click support, support tools and disable tracing and then delete these logs in the kaspersky folder, pass the word on if it's mentioned again :). sorry for the multiple posts

So now all is good and you're showing half your HDD available again?
