Hello everybody,

I recently built my first PC about 4 or 5 days ago, and while playing Metro 2033 for the first time, my system unexpectedly shut down. When I tried to reboot it, I would get the ASRock startup screen, followed by the POST, but after about three seconds from starting it, I lose video feed and my HDTV cuts to no signal. This happens everytime I turn it on and I cannot make it past the POST screen.

I have tried just about everything I can think of (resetting the CMOS by jumper and battery removal, reseating all of my hardware, changing the outlet I use, trying a different monitor and cable, looking for shorts) and I am at a loss. I can't really do much in the system considering I cannot access anything. It's all still covered, but I don't want to have to send everything back. I would like to isolate the problem. I don't overclock, and I have liquid cooling (plus I actively monitor temps) and I don't think that overheating is the problem.

Here is my setup:

ASRock 970 Extreme3 mobo
Phenom II x4 965 3.4 GHz
XFX Radeon HD 7850 2gb core edition
Kingston 8GB (4x2) 1333
OCZ 700w ModXStream PSU

I can give any other info if you guys need it.

I'll be checking back periodically through the day to see if you guys have any suggestions. Thank you.

Hi,

Since the computer started having problems in game and you loose hdtv I suspect a faulty gpu.
From my experience some xfx radeon has issues so you might want to RMA it.
Try booting without the gpu to see if you can post if you have onboard gpu.
