I have an i7 2600 non k and wanted to do some hyperthreading benchmarks. Now because hyperthreading has little performance gains on a quad, I wanted to see the performance difference if I ran 2 cores with hyperthreading or 1 core with hyperthreading. I can disable the cores in the bios but I wanted to know if it's safe.

It is perfectly safe but as for your test the HT gives about a 15% speed over non HT if it is beeing used correctly. There would be no reason to turn off cores or HT if you have it IMO.
