So I still don't understand why this should be turned off. If I am loading programs from my RAM, isn't that less work that my SSD has to do? Wouldn't that extend the life of my SSD?

superfetch automatically copies the files used to start your most commonly used programs from the harddrive to the ram, so that if and when you do start up one of those programs it'll start faster (ram is much faster than hdd).

the reason people say to disable superfetch if you have a ssd is because
1) its benefits is greatly diminished. a ssd is also much faster than a hdd, the perceptible difference between starting a program off a ssd vs off superfetched files is virtually nil.
2) it takes up ram.
3) it performs more read operations on a ssd than needed because you undoubtedly don't start every program that's been superfetched, and for the sake of its lifespan you want to not waste ssd operations.

Ok. But if I had some program... (albeit a terrible program) That required constant restarting... So it constantly had to be read, over and over again... It would be good to have it in the ram right? The hard drive would send the information in their once, and then if I needed to have it read, and closed, and read, and closed, and read... It would be less work than having it read from the SSD? SSD boots it once versus x number of times I need it. ( So it's good for applications I use a lot, repeatedly, right?)
