I'm willing to do the following upgrade. Phenom II X6 1075T to FX-8350(Piledriver).
ATM, i've got the following setup:
Asus M5A97-Pro mobo
4gb DDR3 (1666 or 1333 Mhz, don't remember)
Radeon HD6870 DirectCUII
and an old Hard Drive which will be replaced soon by an SSD.
It's not much, I use it for casual gaming(Flight Simulator X is one of the games that goes harder on the computer), a little photoshop here and there, guitar recording and some music production, and finally for ArcMap, AutoCAD etc... mapping stuff.
Also, I have a Cooler Master Hyper212, so overclocking is possible. The stock cpu fan was a load of crap.
I've read reviews on the fx8350, some give thumbs up, some give thumbs down, meh, i'm not sure what to do.
I want to upgrade to an 8 core. Is it worth buying it now(Piledriver), or should I wait for the Steamroller?
I'm looking for a little increase in fps, overclocking, futureproofing and overall performance increase. I know I don't really need it, but I feel like tossing some money in my PC, lol.

The performance gain will not be huge, overall. The additional cores will help with rendering and the CAD work, but will have almost no impact on gaming.

Thumbs up as long as you don't expect a miracle! Have fun!

I would wait since it is going to be a bigger upgrade.
