looking for a cpu upgrade

I am upgrading my cpu, I own a Intel g840 running at 2.8ghz and its just not enough. my motherboard is a ASRock extreme3 gen3 1155 socket. and im not exactly sure how to go about buying one its gonna do a lot of gaming like crysis 3, total war games and such.

Get an i5-3570K or an i5-2500K. K is for the unlocked multiplier so you can over clock. Or if you want to spend more i7-3700K or i7-2600K. Or an i7-39XX something or other. Money is what is the issue. An i5 with an unlocked multiplier will handle all games handily.

Why don't you post your budget and your entire build? Rather than just spewing out tons of info, people here can tailor the best possible choices. Also, as the poster above me said, if you are in to overclocking or would like to try it, that would be beneficial as well.
