Hello peoples of the internet. Ive got a question reguarding crossfire. Ive never had more then one card in my computer and im planning on adding a second one after I upgrade my processor to a Intel I7-3930k. My current 7970 is a Power Color AX7970 M2DHG. Does the 2nd card have to be the same as the first? It will be another 7970 though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Aro.

Solution
Nope, the 2nd card doesn't have to be the same as the first card, It will be any other HD7970. No problem.

Also if one card has higher clock from factory other don't, In Crossfire Both card will work on the lower cards clock speed. With MSI afterburner you can adjust both cards clockspeed to your desired level.

Also to further help you, In Crossfire the 1st card will exhibit little 5-10c higher temperature, this is normal don't panic, saying this as lot people gets scared thinking one of their card has issue or something.

Happy Gaming :)

Im running 2 Sapphire 7970 Ghz Edition in crossfire. One is the Toxic 6gb and the other is the 3gb version. Another regular 7970 would be fine. Not sure if you can run a 7970 Ghz edition with your card.My top card while gaming hits 80c max while bottom card stays at 65c. Thats running Crysis 3 maxed out at 2560x1440,and 1920x1080.
