Hello,

I just finished building a new computer and when I started to check out games on it, I would find that after a couple minutes in the sound would get choppy and the game would be laggy. Once the computer froze and had to be restarted.

I have tried Bioshock Infinite, Planetside 2 and Endless Space so far.

My build:
i7 3770k
Asus z77 Sabertooth
Samsung 840 Pro 256gb
Western Digital 2TB Caviar Black
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
EVGA GTX670 4gb Superclock
Corsair H100i
Corsair AX850 Power supply

Not really sure what's going on, I have all the Windows updates, and video card updates. I even went ahead and uninstalled the Corsair Link to see if it would make a difference, but nothing changed. I also even lowered the graphics settings in the games to see if that would help out, but it didn't.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can get parts replaced since I just bought them if something is broken/defective.

I installed some of the drivers off the disk, like the Intel Chipset Driver, Realtek Audio Driver, Intel LAN Driver, Intel USB 3.0 Driver, Asmedia USB 3.0 Driver, Asmedia SATA Controller Driver, but I left out the Management Engine Interface, Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and APRP Utility.

Edit: Also, skipped on the Norton Internet Security and Google Chrome Browser. I didn't install any of the Utilities that came on the disc either.

Possible solution:
Turn of energy saving feature SpeedStep c3/c4/c6
Keep C1E Enabled
If not solved then
Change base clock 100 to 101

Thanks

go into the device manager and uninstall the HD HDMI sound that was installed with the nvidia drivers.......... or you can uninstall the nvidia drivers, reboot and reinstall the nvidia drivers and do a custom install. ONLY install the graphics driver and the physx driver.......... nothing else.

what happens?

also, turn off windows auto update and auto driver updates ( 2 different things )

Thanks, I'll give that a try. How do I go about turning off the energy saving feature? Is that done through the bootup menu?

Thanks, I'll give this a try as well and uninstall the nvidia drivers and just do a custom install with only the graphics and physx driver.

Alright, I disabled the C3 and C6. I did not see a c4 though. I haven't changed the base clock yet.

I uninstalled the HD HDMI sound from the device manager and turned off the windows auto update and auto driver updates. For the nvidia drivers, I uninstalled the individual pieces from the program uninstall menu and restarted the computer. I loaded up Bioshock again to try it out and the game sound and game became laggy.

Thanks, I'm going to check those drivers out and will report back how things are going after that.

Update: Awesome, thanks everyone! I had tried updating drivers, using the beta ones, downloaded and installed flash all that stuff, but it was still having issues. I think what finally made it work is I took a chance and saw I had the 1504 Bios and updated it to the latest one which is 1805 using the Asus update tool. Now it's all good. Thanks again!
