Hey guys, I am going to be purchasing and building my own desktop within the week and this whole process is new to me. Is there some kind of component or card I need to install in the motherboard to be able to connect my desktop wirelessly? Or how exactly is this done?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

You can either install a PCI or PCI express wireless card (which will fit inside the case and leave just an antenna outside the back of the case) or connect a USB Wireless card.

TO install a PCI or PCI express card (newer computers have PCI express and may not have older PCI slots) shut down the PC, unplug the power and open the side of the case. You'll need to remove a cover over the slot in the rear which will hold the card, then slide the card into the appropriate slot. Close the case, start the PC and install the drivers (which should be provided on a disk with the card)

Is there a particular reason you want to connect wirelessly? A wired connection is fine for a desktop and can be a bit faster than wifi.
