Should I start a new build or just update my Videocard? What card should I go with for max settings on new games? I currently have a 4870 512 and an Asus p5Q Pro MB with a Q6600 and 8 Gigs of Ram on Win 7 x64. Res: 1920x1200

Your setup is still relevant, a 4 core processor and enough ram for todays games... You only will need a 200ish bucks GPU and you will game for about 2 years more... an HD7870 or GTX660ti and you will go golden for most games today.

But before buying anything, tell us what is your powersupply and your budget to recomend you a good GPU for your needs :)

I built my comp a few yrs ago and can't read what wattage my PSU from inside the case. How else can I find out my power output? @ $200 is cool for a vid card give or take $50 bucks. Thanks

I agree i think the best upgrade for you would be a 7770, provided you power supply is ok. If you just have a cheap 300 watt one....Better go with the 7750. It doesn't require a 6-pin adapter. and has very low power consumption.

Open your case, at the side there should be a sticker, it may say info about its wattage and other related info as 12v amperes and stuff. If your PSU doesnt have any sticker or information. I really suggest you to buy a cheap, but solid new one. A Corsair CX430 or Antec Earthwatts 380w will do the job with any new mid range GPU.

For that resolution, I wouldnt look at an hd7770, a 7850 2Gb or GTX660 would be the minimun for playing at mid-high setings most games, some on ultra, but those are few.
