This card cost $234 but I've heard it's good.
Is there a better card for the money or is this as good as it gets for the price? I can't go higher and I don't want to go lower as I want to be able to get high fps and max skyrim. Can I max skyrim on this card?

Edit: just checked the official supported cards. Says the standard 7870 can play skyrim at very high/extremely high.
But this is the xt version so it can play it even higher then the standard 7870 right?

Yes I think that sounds right I am coming from a 5870 and the difference from that to the tahiti isn't like going from a 8800 gt to a 5870. But in some game I get twice the frame rate at the same settings and battlefield 3 runs really smooth not maxed out. But skyrim ran perfectly on my 5870 so I am guessing the 7870 tahiti does much better with the extra gig of memory and much faster clock speed. Have mine at 1100 mhz( it will run solid at 1150. The temps were kinda high when I first ran it. a few days of gaming the temps lowered. Don't overclock the memory for it is only cooled by air and not a heat sink like most other cards. Picked my up for 208.00 shipped and no tax. Sale on newegg. That is what sold me. matches a 660ti. But don't be fooled it is no 7970, but the price tag is affordable and worth it so what are you waiting for.

Ok will get it. Probably won't overclock though. Not a fan of overclocking.

Not sure what you are running now? I running an old p43 intel motherboard with a quad core 9550@3.57ghz, ddr3@1600mhz. So if you got better specs then this then you will be happier then me! Think I am slightly bottlenecked in a few games i3's look like there just as capable as my set up.

I would go for something a little faster and with a better warranty on the harddrive. slightly more expensive. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/722700711188676...

What's wrong with the current HDD? It's 1tb @ 7200 rpm that's pretty good?

The western digital black drive has a 5 year warranty, the blue has 3. Same drive, longer warranty.
