I put together a server and I'm using a Core2 Duo with an Asus board with an Intel G41 chipset. The board has all solid state capacitors on it but will this board last very long if it's on 24/7? Do you think I should move to a server grade board or will this board I'm using last quite awhle since it has solid state capacitors and good cooling? It doesn't have a huge workload.

One other question, I put a new Western digital blue drive in it, should I consider moving to a more enterprise storage drive like a velociraptor or black enterprise drive? Will the blue drive go quite a while? Thanks!

server/ enterprise "rated" equipment is more about data bandwidth than lifespan. unless you have a dozen users you probably won't notice a difference between workstation and server hardware.

faster CPU, more ram, faster HDD will all ways be better. spending extra $$$ for server hardware may not be worth it.
