I've been researching for a while now in preparation for my gaming rig build this fall and I'm to the point where I'm tweaking and adjusting my part choices as the months go by.

Basically, I have two different power supplies that will both probably suit my needs, but I still need to choose between them.

CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W

Corsair Professional Series AX 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold (AX750)

As far as I understand, they are both Gold rated and have comparable prices currently (within $5 although the AX is usually more expensive on average without sales).

My build has an estimated usage of 390W according to pcpartpicker so 750 seems to be a good point for me.

Given these two at comparable prices, is there any reason you would choose one over the other?

The Corsair Professional Series Gold AX750 (SKU# CMPSU-750AX) has been discontinued so you'd be buying left over stock that is still in the distribution channel. You may have to check to see if it'll still be available by the time you go to buy it.

It has been replaced by the Corsair AX760 - 760 Watt 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Fully-Modular PSU (SKU# 75-001304 / CP-9020045).

So, in that case do you have any qualms about if I chose the HX? It seems solid and if the AX750 is being replaced by the AX760 (which is a large jump in price) I would probably go with the cheaper one.

I am currently using an HX750 in my system and I can attest that it is definitely a solid and quiet PSU.
