Hey guys, I have a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. I use the SSD for boot ups and the HDD for my games and what not. Is there a certain setting in the bios or which spots I should have them plugged into on my motherboard for optimized performance? I heard RAID is the best but idk if that works on my computer. Motherboard is a Gigabyte 970A-UD3. I kinda just plugged them into whatever, not knowing anything about the whole master and slave deal. Any information would be great :) Thank you.

Master and slave is an older concept which was used by IDE (PATA) drives. Anyway, as long as you're set to boot from the SSD and in AHCI mode you should be fine. IF your SSD is SATA 3 (6GB/s) though make sure it's plugged into a SATA 3 port on that board for best performance.

In Bios just AHCI mode (like SchizTech) said. Also that board has all SATA 3 so you can't plug anything in wrong. Your SSD must/should be plugged into the SATA3 for faster performance, which it is; and the HDD doesn't matter whether it is SATA 2 or 3.

You should be good. For RAID you'd need a second SSD, and I don't think it's necessary for your system.
