I just built a pc, or you could say I replaced almost everything on it. What I didn't know was that old HDD won't run on your new setup, I googled around and the answers were to reinstall the HDD, BUT! I had to replace ALL the parts just to reinstall. Isn't there a easier way? Couldn't it be possible to plug in a usb mini with windows 7 saved on it and re-install? And if so, how do it?

I had a Asus motherboard, cant be specific cause I don't remember, Intel dual core, 4gb ram DDR2, 550PSU.

This got replaced with: Asus sabertooth 990fx, AMD FX-8350, Vengeanze 8GB 2x4 ram, 750PSU.

When I boot up I can see motherboard options and such, then i'll choose what HDD to boot from, and then it says that windows couldn't start up and repair blah blah and blah.. What I really dont wanna do is too put in ALL the old components just to erase the HDDs. :/

If using an OEM version of windows (other than win 8), a new license will need to be obtained since it is a one system only OS (once the motherboard gets changed, the OS is no longer under license). I am suprised that you don't get further into setup before issues arise though. If the motherboard was replaced because of malfunction, you may be able to obtain a new license from MS just with a few e-mails.
If you are using a retail version of windows (or win 8) that won't be a factor. In that case go into BIOS and try changing your hard drive type to IDE (if set as AHCI or set to AHCI if currently IDE) save and exit - see if you get anywhere then
