Need help setting up CPU part of Sabertooth 990fx r2.0

If you have this motherboard, please help me!

Look at this picture:

The CPU part has a plastic covering, is that supposed to be there, I broke it off thinking its a type of protection and I think thats why it does not work... I am getting a replacement and to prevent a mistake like that again, I need to know if I am supposed to remove it.

I look at the manual and it doesnt say anything about removing it but its kinda weird having plastic at the CPU socket, I am thinking it would melt thus I removed it thus it doesnt work?

  1. That plastic has to be removed. Check the CPU and mobo for bent pins.

The CPU has no bent pins, its probably the motherboard.

But how do I remove the plastic thing, it doesnt say how in the manual

  3. What plastic part do you refer to? The one with pin holes in it?

Yea, that black plastic thing over the CPU socket, it says nowhere in the manual how to remove it. http://www.manualowl.com/m/Asus/SABERTOOTH-990FX-R2.0/Manual/317660

That one can not be removed. You just mount the CPU on it.
