System: MSI 970A-G46 mobo, FX6100 3.4 gig CPU, 4ea. vengence 4gig dsr3 1600meg ram, Nvidia 530 video card, Thermaltake 700 watt P.S. & CPU heatsink, Toshiba 500 gig H.D. 720-0 rpm w 32 buffer.

The system worked perfectly for 6 days.
Turned off normally, next morning would not boot. No video or audio, would not post, H.D. was spinning but not activity on H.D. indicator. Determined the P.S. was working properly. After extensive search of forums determined Mobo defective, retailer gave new board.

Fired up w Phenom II x 4 3.4gig CPU as I had reservations on FX6100's integrity.
System would not boot w all 16 gig ram, same symptom as before. Removed one 4 gig ram stick & system booted normally.

Can it be made to use full 16 gig ram?

This machine is for professional video editing, not gaming, not overclocked.

Its not that your board can't support 16GB, a quick google shows that your board supports 32GB RAM. Replace that faulty 4GB and its likely that it'll fire up fine. If you have the time, boot up memtest and test your other 3 sticks to make sure they're working.
