can my acer veriton m420 have a 600Watt ATX Echo Star power supply? I really need a new graphics card but i need enough power for an ati radeon 6750. Tell me what you think please.

Solution
For a system using a single Radeon HD 6750 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 450 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 23 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) will require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended...

The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

Do you have a link to that Echo Star 600W power supply unit? What is the model number?

It's a generic brand, most likely, based on some some obsolete design not meant for powering modern systems.

The CX series are generally alright, more so for the price than anything else. The ONLY qualm I have with them is they are rated a bit high. Though where else you gonna find a decent 400w psu that regularily goes on sale for 25 bucks?

The CX series is built by CWT, not Seasonic, using some inferior Samxon capacitors; in particular they don't like heat, which means they will not last if run at or near capacity. Otherwise, they aren't crappy, just not as good as Seasonic, Delta, FSP, or Super Flower units.
Echo Star is cheap Chinese junk. Think Logisys/Diablotek; places like geeks.com sell them. If it has a "600W" label on it, it might be good for half that, possibly not cleanly. The best cheap PSU is probably the Antec VP-450. It is efficient enough for 80+, but is disqualified for not having full range active PFC (it has a little voltage switch on it). It is made by FSP. A step up would be the 80+ Gold Rosewill Capstone units that are made by Super Flower.

AGREED. :vip:
