I have a $2000 dollar budget and like I said, the PC will be used for gaming and web surfing but mostly work programs and email. Obviously I would like this thing to be as fast as possible. Here are some pointers:

. I will need a Keyboard/Mouse and also a Monitor (probably a 24")

. I will probably get Windows 7 over 8

. I do not plan on overclocking, but it would be nice to have in the future

. I want to be able to play games like Shogun 2 TW and Rome 2 TW when it is released in the fall on Ultra or High with 60 fps. Also Arma 2 and maybe Arma 3.

.Shopping on NewEgg

I have been thinking about getting an i5 3570k or i7 3770k for my CPU and I understand that the i7 will not necessarily increase gaming performance at all, but will it make any other programs and just Windows in general run any faster? I do not know what the best motherboard is for this Cpu but the ASUS P8Z77 looks good. I just don't know which one is better because there is about 40 versions on NewEgg and they all vary in price somewhat. I plan on getting at least 8 or maybe 12 GB of RAM.

I have no clue what graphics card would be good for me but I hear the 7990's are good from AMD and Im not sure what the Intel equivalent is.

Here are other things I have sketched up for my build:

CPU: i3570k or 3770k

GPU: ??

PSU: CORSAIR GS800 800W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Motherboard: ??

RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B

HDD: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - OEM

SSD: ?? (I want one though)

Optical Drive: ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM

Case: NZXT Phantom PHAN-001BK Black Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case

These all came off of my shopping cart from NewEgg.

If anyone could give me some advice on what some good components would be and if I should change the existing ones if they are not compatible, etc. That would be great.

Also I have wondering about the hiearchy of brands in the computer hardware industry. I know that Corsair is good for memory and power supplies but what about all the ones that are on the GPU's and Motheboards? ASUS seems decent and I try to sty away from the ones that seem sketchy such as AsRock. Is there a real quality difference to be aware of when choosing the same product by two different brand names?

Thanks

Only if you're doing intense multimedia authoring (CS5, Photoshop, Autodesk, things of that nature) do you need an i7. For everything else an i5-3570K will suffice. If you're playing games it's best to invest in the best GPU you can get for your budget, everything else comes second. Asrock definitely isn't a sketchy manufacturer - they started as an Asus subsidiary and have recently earned a lot of acclaim in their own right. Biostar and ECS - that's another story.

Trusted RAM brands are: G.Skill, Corsair (but only if you get low profile), Mushkin, PNY, Crucial, Kingston, and ADATA.

Trusted case brands: NZXT, Corsair, Fractal Design, Antec, Cooler Master.

Trusted PSU manufacturers: Seasonic, Antec, Corsair, anything made by Seasonic or Super Flower (PC Power & Cooling, Antec, NZXT, Rosewill Lightning/Capstone, etc).

On your budget here's what I would suggest:

- Fastest SSD on the market
- Fastest single GPU solution on the market
- Best case and power supply currently available
- Low profile Vengeance RAM
- Best single-fan CPU heat sink available (you could upgrade to a D14 if you want)

Then use the rest of your budget and add a nice 1440P display and whatever keyboard and mouse you want.

For gaming a 3570k is all you need unless you can utilize hyper-threading.
Samsung has excellent SSD's.
For gaming a 120hz or 144hz monitor will make gaming a better overall experience, get an IPS instead if you want better colours and viewing angles.
Hyper 212 is good for moderate overclocks, no need to overclock heavily.

The GTX 670 needs at least a 500W PSU on its own, does it not?
